Preserving the Voices of Sindh
Stories of Sindh is a living archive dedicated to documenting and sharing the migration accounts of Sindhi people following the 1947 Partition. It is also a space to highlight the rich traditions and cultural heritage of Sindhis.
As a result of the Partition, countless families lost their homes, their records, and — too often — their stories. This archive exists so those stories are not the next thing to be lost.
About the Archive
A Race to Record Oral Histories Before They Disappear
Stories of Sindh was founded by Payal Sadhwani, a Sindhi whose paternal and maternal grandparents went through Partition.
As Payal started taking an interest in Partition, she realised that not many accounts existed from Sindhi people, and from the province of Sindh, if at all.
She also realised that many of those who experienced Partition are now in their golden years – and it became a matter of urgency to record these accounts.
Thus, Stories of Sindh was born – an educational, impartial space where Sindhis from every background and every corner of the world can come together to preserve, read and pass down family histories.
